Transgender people started Compton and Stonewall riots which benefitted homosexuals. But because of their smaller numbers they were cut off from recognition when it was time to enjoy the fruits of those riots, When legislature made new laws and added protections and equal opportunities for gays/lesbians, transgender people were conveniently forgotten.

Well, I watched the first 45 minutes of the show until I got bored. She seemed like she's doing okay, with her family fully accepting her and a group of friends who do as well. Don't think I'll watch the rest of the shows though, as it was just boring to me.

So your grandmother understood you and abetted your fixation and you developed further in that route. Perhaps it was a phase and if you were not abetted you might have reverted to gender identity matching your genitalia. By your own words above you do not know. We do not give children free reign over their desires as adults we provide guidance and show them the way. Children are constantly developing, curious, observing, copying, mimicking, etc. It is part of shaping. I think we all know repeated or reinforced thought becomes action, action becomes habit, habit becomes character, character becomes destiny. I am unconvinced Trans-genderism is not some sort of emotional disability or poor exposure to external stimuli at early age.
The bottom line is that there are many people who develop this at a young age (who knows how it started, nothing has been proven). There is also no known way to reverse this or "cure" them by making them feel comfortable in their own bodies, so why not just let them be who they feel comfortable being? It's not like it's hurting anyone.

For a second I thought this thread was about a girl who thought she was jazz music.

I know this is newsworthy so here it is:

I am Steve, a straight heterosexual male, who has a family that loves him.
