NOTICE how the article FAILS to mention the breed and just says "canine." wow.
From your link:
"Page County Sheriff Lyle Palmer told Omaha.com that the dogs were mixed-breeds with some bulldog heritage, but neither would be considered a pit bull.
He said he saw the dogs in the pound Friday morning before they were euthanized and showed 'no aggressiveness.'
Malaki's family also had another dog, a bulldog type that was not involved in the attack - it was also put down on Friday morning."
Maybe a mod can change the thread title to something more appropriate.

Dogs look like pit bulls to me. The sheriff was probably trying to prevent the typical pitbull reaction. I think the title is correct.
This story seems a bit off. The dogs seemed docile and well behaved, and at 6 months, I cannot imagine them having the "pit rage" that often is the cause for any sort of mauling. There is much more to this story, and while I am no pit apologist, I have the sense that the dogs were convenient scapegoats. It just does not sound right to me. Of course, in these little towns with very limited resources and no access to more sophisticated investigation techniques, the whole thing stops with a poor dead boy and his dead puppies. Really tragic and I hope the spirits of the boy and the puppies can rest in peace...
Oh my, how awful.....another child killed via loving-family-pet!
If you have little kids, think long and hard before you get any sort of large and/or powerful dog. Better yet, get a little, very irritating ankle-biter/yapper.

Since there is a thread here on CD about ferrets attacking an infant, parents should understand that supervising children around all pets is essential.

Because the dogs are mixed breed; what do you want them to be called?
You are the one who stated "pitbull", which is incorrect.
