Dbones, Pedro: Every city in every part of this country has kids like Michael Brown. And kids far more violent that Michael Brown. People threaten and attack cops all the time and don't get shot and killed. Cops are supposed to be trained to know how to deal with this situations and de-escalate them without shooting to kill. That is what they are paid to do. Darren Wilson had a car and Michael Brown did not. Wilson could have driven away (?) Experienced and mature cops have a better psychological understanding of what is happening and a better framework of tools to deal with the situation. Darren Wilson was young and scared and ill-equipped psychologically and tactically to do his job. He is now young and immature and ill-equipped to deal with the backlash of his actions.
You do realize that Michael Brown approached the car, reached into the car and had his hand on officer Wilsons gun....you do realize that, right? Do you choose just to ignore that small little FACT?
Wilson had contempt for Brown. He would never have allowed a stranger to get so close that they were wrestling for his gun otherwise. I don't know what happened but it is clearly sloppy on his part. He is not a hero. He didn't rid society of a serial killer or child predator. This celebration of the killings of low level street punks is disturbing. Weed? 2lbs? Are you serious? Not Meth? Coke? Heroin? Guns?
Nice job at hindsight arm chair quarterbacking there.
All Wilson knew was there was a huge and aggressive guy brazen enough to attack a uniformed officer in his marked police car, and attempting to grab his gun. At that point I doubt Officer Wilson was n a calm rational mindset, and was acting on instinct, training, fear and adrenalin.
To put yourself in that situation is impossible. Yet if you think about how you feel when you get into a verbal altercation with someone, much less a physical one, then maybe you can have a 10% understanding of how your body and mind react. Officer Wilson is a human being, subject to the same physiological and mental stress all of us have.
Yet from the safety of your own home, months later, you wish to imagine in your minds eye how you would react, likely giving yourself characteristics you do not really possess.
So you pontificate on how he should have handled the situation based on the aforementioned, and your own deluded bias.
Bottom line it shows the rank and file that when you do your job you can lose everything. It shows the rank and file to do the bare minimum. Look straight ahead and observe nothing. Take a report and go on to the next job. Otherwise risk everything for an uncaring society who will throw you and your family under the bus in a second.
Crime is spiking in a lot of major cities, I think that the troops are hearing you.

Erm, no, we don't realize that. We don't know anything because there were no credible witnesses to what happened. Wilson is not a credible witness. So forgive me if I choose to ignore his entire testimony. If I had a career on the line and there wasn't anyone credible to counter my story I'd lie my ass off saving my bacon. Not that I would have that hard a job if I was a duly sworn member of the law enforcement community. Why is the murderer in those mysteries always some kind of cop or detective? Because they are the last ones anyone ever suspects. Guilty as sin, but, who is going to squeeze them too hard on details or facts?

The only people who lied were the other thug witnesses saying hands up don't shoot. Well physical evidence completely disproved that claim. How come the thug wasn't prosecuted for perjury, they prosecute cops for perjury, why not thugs? Thugs are not credible witnesses. Pants up don't loot
