What scares me is the fact these incidents are occurring at a much more frequent rate. With 15 months left in Obama's term, let the s*** really hit the fan, he declares Marshal Law, no election and he sticks around long enough to finish the job he started and that is destroying this country.

Just to be clear, we are condeming the MOTHER, in this thread right? Because she is being naive about her criminal son, and no one is suggesting (except her) that this man was a victim?
Accusing others of murdering your son after he did all that deserves condemnation.
Also it is not a rare behavior as we have had crap like this pop up after most police shootings. Even the latest ferguson shooting where they have clear evidence.

You mean comments like aspiring rapper good boy etc? If so I hate to break it to you but that's the meme when many gang bangers get shot. It's said when they get caught gunning down three rivals and police catch them or when they get killed by rivals etc. while some people may be making their comments with racial motivation it's really a meme started by the families.
Is it standard procedure to fly relatives in by helicopter some 180 miles for a criminal who is holed up in a house? It appears the NYPD went above and beyond in this case to accommodate the suspect.

Violent crime is substantially less than 20 years ago. The Internet and cable news outlets who use the Internet as source just makes us more aware of it.

I'm condemning the mother because the police flew her in on their dime to try to save her son's life. He indicated he might come out if he got to talk to momma.
After all the police did to try to resolve the situation peacefully, she blames THEM and it sounds like she's actually accusing them of cruelly setting her up to see her son die. WTH? They gave her a chance to talk him down. It failed. They went above and beyond IMHO. She should be putting the blame where it belongs, on her idiot son. But I guess we're seeing where he got his brains from.

It has not. We have only changed how we report crime.
For example, under the standards in place today, the crime yesterday would go down as a single arson. Arson is a higher level crime than aggravated assault, and only the highest crime is recorded in an incident. Even without the arson, it would be a single aggravated assault, as multiple incidents of any crime other than homicide occurring in connected time and location are considered a single incident.
As recently as 1998, this incident would have been recorded as an arson and dozens of aggravated assaults and some simple assaults. In 2007, it still would have been as many as four aggravated assaults (though possibly a single arson then).
