this was not just one mistake...having sex with a 16 year old where the legal age is 17 ONCE because you didn't know she was 16 is ONE mistake...
Not that it makes it right, but I thought the age of consent was 16 in his state from reading one of the new articles. Either way, he does deserve to go to prison in my opinion.

I believe he crossed state lines to meet these young girls (and that's a whole other set of laws).

Yep. That pretty much explains it. Still, I have a problem with that charge as his only crime was crossing state lines to engage in activity that was otherwise legal. And, while revolting and bordering on criminal, saying that he'd like to have sex with a 14 year old isn't illegal; it's taking steps to make those perverted "desire so" a reality that is criminal. Having written that, I say throw the book at him for the child porn, even though there are legitimate constitutional arguments in favor of decriminalizing mere viewing of child pornography; note, I think there are more compelling arguments to ban viewing child pornography, but that's me.
I have always found it difficult to understand why we need to imprison people for the act of viewing child pornography. It is certainly a disgusting interest but unless a person has done harm to a child or was involved in the making or distributing of the child porn I would assume most are just indulging in their sick fantasies. They shouldn't be sent to prison for the simple act of "looking". Perhaps a sentence of psychological counseling is much more appropriate.
I think the laws against child porn were enacted assuming that criminalizing the viewing and possession would cut down on the production of child porn and protect children. I doubt child porn is "produced" like movie. I would suspect most is just underground private videos that get traded.
Seriously? Just how do you think child pornography is made without harming the child? And how is it distributed without harming the child since they cannot consent? The watching is what creates the market.
Jared has a Net Worth of $15 Million.
His wife has filed for divorce (assume Indiana is a 50/50 state)
Court has ordered him to pay $1.4 million to his victims
Cigarettes will cost $7/pack
Each fellow inmate will want 2 cartons of cigarettes a week not to beat Jared up more than once.
The guards want $10,000 a month to 'ensure his safety'
In his cell block there are 19 other inmates.
1) Does Jared have enough money to serve 5 years, with minimal body damage?
2) If not, how long into his sentence does he run out of protection money.
And thanks to Obama removing tax breaks for the rich, he is taxed at a 35% rate.
no wonder he lost all that weight. he was too busy diddling 14 year olds and then playing tag with them.
