I think what Caitlyn is doing is great, but I do feel that people have put her on a pedestal. If you do anything 'against' her (perceived or real) you're called hateful, transphobic, etc.
I hate the term 'pc' because I feel like creeps here cry about it when someone calls them out on their racism, but in Cat's case, I do feel like people are overprotective of her.
I see. A costume of Caitlyn Jenner for being Caitlyn Jenner? How is that funny? Or scary, as this is Halloween? If people think that it is, they need to grow a brain and/or a heart.
I think you'll find two things: 1. Many people feel that Bruce Jenner isn't serious. Someone with a penis is not a female and it is just basic if you have any biology. Even without the penis, he is genetically female. He is living a lie and loving the attention so respect is probably too much to expect. 2. No one really cares, it is Halloween.

He seems to thrive on the oddness of his situation and I still think the biggest tragedy is that what he has done is made light the condition which others actually have to deal with.

This short post says everything that needs to be said. Who cares about the easily offended of the world, let them be offended. These Kardasians find all kinds of ways to bring attention to themselves, well this costume is part of that like it or not.
If its going to happen (and I"m not advocating banning anything), then, I agree, that may be the best we can get out of this. Still, talking to your children about this as a teaching moment works towards, in my view, the same thing that people outraged about the matter now are working towards: trying to change hearts/minds to where doing something like this is not viewed as OK.

Get over it people. The world doesn't cater to the butt hurt; especially over trivial matters such as Halloween costumes. Someone should market Butt Hurt costumes for those who can't stand the horror of it all.

Overprotective? It is overdone to the point of idolatry.
I think what's outrageous is Jenner coming out as some glamorous "hot" woman at his age, while real post menopausal women who's gone through the hormonal wars and who can't afford all that plastic surgery are dismissed, ignored by society and called pathetic to many when they try to look all sexy.
