You can take photos in the Louvre. Absolutely nothing prohibited about taking photos as long as there is no flash. That has of course led to this monstrosity:
Yes, that's how full of people the hall was when I got there. We were allowed to take pictures of anything in the Louvre EXCEPT the Mona Lisa. Looks like that's not the case anymore.
