These actions are going to result in a severe penalty for contempt of court. The court would have every right to fine the county. Perhaps, the fine will be $10,000 a day or more. The judgment could be executed by seizing county monies held in depository institutions or selling off county property. I don't think the taxpayers will like that very much.
That is a really great point that no one has brought up until now. Everyone has been so focused on her personal liability that the idea of bring contempt charges against not only Ms Davis but the county government is a real option for the court. I thought in ominous enough that the judge ordered the entire staff to be present in court.
LOL, awesome! How "Christian" of her. Hypocritical and insincere. She is really doing a great job of making all her fellow "Christians" look good. I can't wait to hear there excuses from her supporters.
Seriously, though, this is completely normal behavior for this part of the country. I moved away from religion many, many years ago because I just found it increasingly hypocritical and repulsive, but even I never grasped how many different levels of crazy are wrapped up in it until I moved down here.
I'm one county away from this dingbat. I have neighbors who are snake handlers. People here say grace at Burger King, and damned well expect you to shut up and be silent while they're doing it (I don't, and I don't care how hard they glare at me for the rest of their meal.) This is a place where people speak openly about the dangers of education. Think about that for a minute, and reflect upon all the implications of that, and you'll start to get a sense of the mindset that makes her think this is perfectly acceptable behavior.
She's a hero down here. Most people in most of the rest of the country are thinking, "my god, how could anyone still be that nuts in the 21st Century?", but the fact is, half the people in this state are still living in the 1700s. And, like her, they'll fight like hell to resist any attempt whatsoever to drag them into the 2000s. There is nothing unusual about her behavior at all, by Kentucky standards. This sort of craziness is considered perfectly normal down here. It's not just a different part of the country; it's a whole different alternate universe.
