and I would like to nominate this "gun Expert" for today's Dawin Award.

Quote:
Newser) – A 23-year-old Phoenix man is in critical condition after shooting himself in the head while trying to show that a handgun could not be fired while he had the safety mechanism engaged. The Navajo County Sheriff's Office said Christen Reece fired his handgun yesterday while shooting with six other people outside Overgaard in eastern Arizona.
Man Tries to Prove Gun Won't Fire; It Does

I do feel sympathy for him and his family. but the reality is guns are not toys. they are desighed to kill and are effective at doing what they are designed for. Safeties are mechanicl devices and can fail.

Simple rules of gun safety

1. There is no such thing as an unloaded gun.

2. Never point a gun at something you do not desire to shoot.

3. always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction where there will be no harm when it accitentally fires.

4. Never assume the safety is on or that it will work if it is on.

Lmao! I'm sorry not funny but my God this just shows how many people are idiots and all
In the name of trying to prove a point-dude was it worth it? Or nah. Smh. The more stories that come out about accidental shootings in the home of gun owners really indicates the number of irresponsible, uneducated people that own them. I don't have a problem with gun-ownership but it's scary the number of people that should know better and make these silly mistakes. Smh.

There are a lot of ways of not proving your point without having to point a gun to your own head.

I have mixed feelings about it. I do laugh at the stupidity of it, but also feel pain for the people in his life, that will be affective by this.

Being an old man who grew up at a time when all farm kids learned how to hadle a gun, before they were potty-trained. I do not believe gun accidents exist. the owner of a firearm is fully responsible for where every bullet goes. If a person can not accept that, they have no business owning a gun. accident is not an acceptable excuse. It is either stupidity or deliberate when a bullet hits an unintended target.

Maybe because it is hard to believe a sober person could be that idiotic.

Every few years it seems the same thing happens and it is usually at a party-like atmosphere.

LOL. Next time try and do that when pointing it down range. ALWAYS assume a gun is capable of firing and treat it accordingly.
