was a banker and was followed by Obama on her twitter account.
A Long Island woman’s insistence that President Obama follows her on Twitter made doctors at the Harlem Hospital psych ward think she was delusional and suffering from bipolar disorder — but she was actually telling the truth, a lawsuit charges.
Kam Brock’s frightening eight-day “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” ordeal at the mental facility included forced injections of powerful sedatives and demands she down doses of lithium, medical records obtained through her suit filed in Manhattan Federal Court show.
Based on the article and her own admissions (in the article), she probably comes over as a bit of a wacko. That does not excuse her treatment but I think the blame for that resides with the doctors and not the police.
There is so much left out of this story. A video of the interaction would likely tell a different story than has been alleged. People are not locked up in a mental ward for stupidity or half the country would be in one. She is rambling on about police not believing she could own a ( 11 year old ) BMW. Seriously, who cares what she drives? There had to be some crazy emotional outbursts involved.
I think it says a lot about our miserable mental health system. The few hospitals equipped to handle mental health crisis patients are so overwhelmed that it's not unusual to see them sedate a patient immediately then evaluate them days later.

Ever hear of The Baker Act? In states like FL you can place a call on a family member or neighbor and say they're acting off, and the police will take you to a mental facility where you are held for 3 days against your will. No questions asked.
It has been widely abused by people who have a vendetta against someone or need to have someone out of the way for a few days.
It's quite scary actually.
