I tried to find a link but the Chinese government set out a set of rules for its citizens to follow during the Olympics a few years ago. The one that sticks out in my memory was to refrain from spitting.

An example of protocol:

thx, i didn't know that.

would seem appropriate for the religion to dictate how to behave at all times, even at a simple hand shake event. regardless, people wear tshirts to funerals these days, guess it's way these days...

Should they only boycott "POPE stuff"? These are the same legislators who FLOCK to the annual National Prayer Breakfast (usually around 3,500 attendees) to rub shoulders with evangelical and fundamentalist preachers and the heads of megachurches. But to be fair, they have also had to listen to Bono and the Dalai Lama, among other more exotic types. I've heard our current president doesn't like going to this because it has very little to do with spirituality, but he is pressured to attend by his political opponents who have threatened to use any non-appearance as "proof" he is anti-Christian, even though the event is supposed to be non-denominational.

He is very humble and pretty damn chill. He's the type of guy we needed as catholics. He's connecting with younger people. He's great.
