Since the pest control company was supposed to ascertain that the building was safe to enter and apparently failed to do so, it does not appear that anyone denies that the chemicals used are toxic. They do have to be handled properly, though.

Sounds like Sunland may be responsible but of course they go after the parent company Terminex because they have more money. Has any government agency confirmed dangerous/inappropriate levels of the pesticides in the home?

I don't see the "but" here. No one said that the pesticides were safe. That's why the family was told to leave in the first place while the pesticides were being used because they were not safe to be around.

The tragedy here is that the family was told to return too soon. That is on the heads of the company that did not use their judgement as to when it was safe for the family to return home. Sunland misjudged the use of the pesticides which was their responsibility.

The link in the OP says that a state investigation confirmed that the pesticide is the cause of the injuries. Sunland's license has been suspended.

Since franchise owners pay royalties to Terminix, I suspect the parent company has some liability. If I were Terminix, I would have insisted on better oversight of the local providers, since an incident like this will make consumers distrust the brand.
