Under a condition you personally support him for 11 years. It is a petty crime, no deliberation, just anger. Make it hurt, but 11 years is absurd. A month in a jail + fine, if a judge has common sense at all.
My preference is substance abuse treatment, a short 30 day stint and then 5 years of probation with drug testing (random).
Assuming he has no priors etc.
If he's some gang-banging fool then yeah 10 years.
Oh! The people at Costco will wrap a line around the block for a spoonful sample of ice cream! I've seen it many times. That's why I don't go there on weekends..too crazy for me....
According to his facebook page, Gharabighi is a "future nurse". This attack was a blessing in disguise. Can you imagine someone like him working in a nursing home? With his felony record, he'll have to pursue another career.

Okay, aside from the grammatical error, isn't this exactly what we want in our nurses---to have an attitude and be lazy? But it's just something for him to write and say is his future career path. He's 24 and isn't yet a nurse. I know people 30 years older go back to school to become nurses, but I'll bet this guy never gets into/though nursing school. I think he could be denied a nursing license in most states even if he did graduate---a criminal record might preclude licensure.
What a colossal idiot. He will be arraigned on a felony charge of elder abuse. Although one article I read stated the police said there was no video footage it is highly likely the store does have footage.
Again, what a flippin' moron.
There probably were witnesses, even if there was no video.
This I why I can't stand the samples. People crowd and hog and mess. If I had my druthers there would be a sample area in the store so you would have to SEARCH OUT the samples, and people that didn't want to deal with it could shop in peace.
And if you think I am over the top -- you've never been at Costco at lunch time with people sampling their way through lunch instead of buying something....
I have to admit they're pretty civil about those samples in this neck of the woods.
Obviously it's indefensible but 11 years for a punch is bull****. Rapists get out earlier.
