Costco shopper, 78, punched in fight over free Nutella waffle sample, police say - LA Times

He faces 11 years in prison if convicted of the assault. (There were witnesses.) Maybe an 11 year sentence would stop others in the future from assaulting people over such trivial things---think so?
I heard of a similar case but it was a 78 year old harrassing a young employee over samples of ice cream when the nearest Sam's Club opened. I remember hearing the same case, the person wanted multiple samples for his non-present grandchildren and the employee said no. After pushing the table into the employee, a manager came and kicked out the elderly person.

They offer samples for items that are on sale for a limited time. Costco switches out their inventory pretty regularly so they may not even be selling Nutella next month. Also, a great number of customers in the LA area are from nationalities that traditionally don't use Nutella. Go into the Pasadena store at any given time and you'll find 2/3 of the people are Chinese.

I'm not surprised. Most Nutella fanatics I know are nutjobs literally. Add me to the list of people who don't like Nutella.

I agree that some of those Costco customers act like pigs when Costco hands out samples. The worst are always those Pizza lovers who act like they are about to eat manna from heaven. Same crap happens when I go to food & wine festivals or cruises.
