It's a point of view, for sure. But having actually lived in Germany, I do not share that opinion at all.

(Seriously - "having been associated with bad guys"? How about "possibly committed crimes"? Although we don't know, hence the trial.)

The "staff" at Auschwitz were not just "bad guys" who knocked over a bank and and a couple liquor stores ...

Exactly. There's a pretty transparent intent behind using weasel words like "having been associated with bad guys".

Yeah … I mean hey … !!!

The "lady" in question apparently never -- personally -- actually shot or hanged or gassed even ONE "Jew" … Did she … ???

And in fact …

Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler never actually personally laid a FINGER on any Jews or Communists or mental defectives or Jehovahs Witnesses or Slavs or homosexuals, either, did he … ??? Did he … ??? All he did was give speeches and write stuff and (well, yes) issue a few evil insane ORDERS (which nobody HAD to follow, did they … ??? They COULD have refused to follow orders, yes … ???)

huh

As was brought up earlier, at what point do you stop blaming people? Should the farmers that fed the camps be prosecuted as well?

People who actively knowing WORKED at and for the Nazi Death Machines are guilty of intentional complicity in Crimes Against Humanity …

As a young student during the Viet Nam War, I was lucky to have a student draft deferment, for which I was very glad … At one point (summer following my sophomore year) I hired on at a machine shop, but when I learned that they made parts for bombs and mortar shells, I found other employment …

I did pay taxes … But I also (illegally) counseled other young men on how to avoid the draft …

No, these questions of historical guilt and one's individual free choices to act or not … are not always simple …

Human beings are always merely human, and all of us "have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" …

But complicity with Auschwitz crosses a bright line of accountability ...

And how would the farmer who was providing food for the camp not actively worked at and for the Nazi Death Machines?

I don't know the details of how food was supplied to the Death Camps, but I doubt that local farmers rolled in through the gate past the mass graves and crematoria to deliver wagonloads of potatoes ...

But they knew what was going on in the camps.
