While I understand her pain, I'm not sure how Porsche is responsible for an accident caused by reckless speeding.

Actor Paul Walker's daughter sues Porsche over fatal crash - Chicago Tribune

Quote:
Paul Walker's daughter sued Porsche for wrongful death Monday, claiming the sports car that her father was in when he was killed suffered from numerous design defects.

The lawsuit filed by Meadow Rain Walker seeks unspecified damages for defects that her lawyers claim kept the actor trapped in the Porsche Carrera GT when it crashed and burst into flames in November 2013.

ban fast cars? Porsche is as liable as lucky gunner, lawsuit will be tossed, legal fees will be paid. If in fact a defect caused the crash she may have a case (does not appear to be that)

People often seem to want to blame somebody else for their loved ones' deaths, especially in the case of celebrities, it seems. Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and her daughter, Paul Walker. Fact is, people make stupid decisions. They take drugs and get hooked. They speed in sports cars just because they can and it's cool. They decide to be a passenger in a speeding sports car.

I understand Meadow's pain and I am sorry for her. But the tendency we have in this country to defer responsibility onto others is not a good one.

IF Porsche really did sell a defective car, then okay. But regardless, this was an accident caused by speeding and being reckless.

She is not going to see, one single cent from Porsche. On the other hand, Porsche should not have Produce or sold to the public that death trap on wheels. That Porsche that Paul was in was no ordinary Porsche. It was Known for going sideways real fast even with professionals driving it!

So the driver was doing about 90mph on a city street and lost control. This is Porsche fault, why?

Yep, I'm driving way too fast. I kill myself.

My wife and kids should sue me, not the car manufacturer

I really don't understand the point of this lawsuit. It isn't like this 16yr old girl will ever have to work a day in her life. This will only cost her (and her family) money in the long run for lawyers and such because I really don't see her winning this. If anything, I'm surprised she isn't suing the family of the driver. He is the one responsible for the wreck and their deaths.
