One thing about this pope, he can act cool and hip, and spout off the buzzwords like "climate change", because that makes him look "with it."
In reality, there are a lot of hardliners in the Catholic Church, and deep down inside, Pope Francis knows he has to tow the line. The Catholic Church reversing it's stance on homosexuality? Not going to happen. Maybe 500 years from now, that's how long it will take.
So yeah, Francis is going to act like the "hip" politician on his visits, but in the Vatican, its about defending Church doctrine all the way.
Back peddling? No, they're just setting the record straight. Kim Davis said that she had a private 15 minute meeting with the Pope where he gave support to her cause. The Vatican is just saying that No, that is not true. She did meet the Pope, but it did not happen the way she said.

Or he actually cares about the planet.

Who here has said he is changing the Catholic Church's stance on homosexuality? The Pope is still Catholic, and I would hope people realize that.

What did he say that went against Church doctrine during his visit?
Pope Francis met with several dozen persons who had been invited by the Nunciature to greet him as he prepared to leave Washington for New York City. Such brief greetings occur on all papal visits and are due to the Pope’s characteristic kindness and availability. The only real audience granted by the Pope at the Nunciature was with one of his former students and his family.
So basically a meet and greet.
Yep, she's a narcissist, as I've noted before. It's all about her.
She claims that certifying that a marriage license applicant has met the legal requirements for marriage constitutes participating in their future marriage (which is as dumb as claiming that the woman at the DMV who sold me tabs for my plates was a 'participant' in my road-trip to North Dakota in August).
She claims her religious beliefs (supported, no less, by a Biblical passage that inconveniently means her current marriage is invalid, but since it's all about her and she doesn't have to abide by the finger-pointing demands she levels at others, that's fine) should allow her to be exempt from the law.
She shakes the Pope's hand with a bunch of other people, then tries to pass it off as an extended private meeting where the Pope was focused entirely on her.
The phrase 'self absorbed' doesn't even scratch the surface of her pathology!
Yes---publicity for the narcissist. BUT----she WAS one of a very small group. Why was she invited as part of the two dozen or so?
Plausible deniability which the spin doctors are now trying to use. Proving the Vicar is just as much of a politician as the Presidents and Prime Ministers worldwide.

He is a head of state just as they are. I highly doubt he is the one behind any spin though, it's the people around him.

No …
Pope Francis is not "acting 'hip'" …
He is neither "liberal" nor "conservative" …
Nor does he "tow [sic.] the line" …
He teaches, believes and confesses the Catholic Faith, which is neither "conservative" nor "liberal" …
It is TRUE ...

No I think its pretty clear if you believe in God then you are not meant to monumentally **** up his creation, namely, planet earth and everything that lives on it. That's not being "with it." Like when you go to dinner at someone's house you don't then **** all over what's been given to you on a plate. Well perhaps you do, I don't know that.
