Native Americans and people in Africa weren't sticking their hand out when Europeans colonized them. They didn't ask for Europeans to come and take over.

A lot of Irish and Scottish folks were paid by the government when their Jamaican slaves were freed.

You have to be careful to not use this as an excuse to avoid dealing with racism and inequality issues in the present.
Oh yes, it's really important that we don't use the comical lack of proximity of the grievance industry's Original Sins to present reality as an excuse not to dispense to them yet more racial spoils.
And just about every British citizen is a descendant of a serf, which is practically a slave.
Get over it, the world is a bad place (we have more slavery right now then at the height of triangle trade).
The way I understand it, the difference between a serf and a slave was that ownership of the serf was tied to the land, whereas a slave was personal property.
So, if you were a serf on an estate and Noble MDrenter owned the estate, he owned you, too. But if along comes the Mighty Queen and wins favor with the King over MDrenter and the King gives MDrenter's land to Mighty Queen, Mighty Queen now owns you because you come with the land.
The results are pretty much the same. Punishment for crimes for serfs was harsher than for non-serfs. If somebody killed a serf or decided to rape his wife, nothing would happen.
