Why do you hate capitalism? Penalties for outsourcing? Ridiculous!
The jobs belong to TRU, not to any American worker, and TRU is (and should be) free to have those jobs performed anywhere they want.
Americans demand more for less in the marketplace, and this is simply a response to the realities of the market in which TRU operates.
Most of their $$$s from sales comes from America. They will be feeling the effects when fewer toys are being sold because Americans are too poor to buy them.
Problem #1 - Not enough jobs
Problem #2 - Not enough money to fund the government
Solution to both: Tax the crap out of U.S. companies with offshore employees
or offshore outsourcing contracts. Something like 30% on every dollar going to foreign workers.
The name of the game is to sell to the 6.6 Billion people of the World, not to the 317 Million irrelevant and redundant Americans.
When you figure that out, let us know and you'll be ready to understand why $5 Profit = $5 Profit.

You voted....for all the wrong politicians all the time.
Even if you didn't vote, you gave tacit consent.
Think of it as Karma.
Maybe if you as a country had spent more time helping India instead of harassing India and trying to murder President Nehru, you wouldn't be in this mess.
You all should get used to India taking your jobs.
Just as you lost jobs to China when it moved into its 2nd Level Economy, India is about to move into its 2nd Level Economy, and you'll lose even more jobs.
In the event that Americans read their own laws, and decide to volunteer OUT of FICA, and thus dismantle the socialist State system, it might spark an economic recovery when American laborers and businesses have ZERO TAXES and ZERO regulations.
What do you think?
Would zero taxes and zero regulations entice industries to return to American shores?
Most people don't realize that before internet came, every store invest their income on marketing and store experience. Today, you have to have an internet presence and e-commerce. This extra layer can easily cost more than many of their physical store's operation.
Now today most goods went up in price but not so much for toys. So how can TRU remain competitive against Amazon while they have to maintain physical stores and Amazon does not. Online operation ain't cheap they have to increase price or lower their costs.
Ah Dave Brandon...creating chaos wherever he goes. For those of you that don't follow University of Michigan athletics, you should read about the chaos he created there and how big of a D-bag he is.

That's the way it should be.
If this is a bad decision on the part of TRU, the market will punish them. But if it is a good decision, the market will reward them. We don't need the force of government to compel them to behave the way that some people wish they would.
Toys R Us is faaaaaaaaaar from the only company doing this. You want to boycott? Stop buying EVERYTHING. Stop working, Stop driving. Yeah good luck with that! It's a global world we live in today.

Coming from health care I've seen electronic medical records maintenance, medical billing, collections, accounting, radiology, insurance approvals, case management, you name it become outsourced to India and Mexico.
My California-based company, health insurance, is in the process of off-shoring RN positions to the Philippians. The first nurses to go are the prior authorization & case management departments.
It's quite disheartening. I never thought this would happen. I've been an RN for 35+ years. Too bad I still have 10 years until retirement. So far my department isn't affected as our work is very complex and we are still a money maker. We've already been working with a company in India and their quality of work is atrocious.
This is a wake-up call. We really aren't expendable.
