College campuses in Oregon are not "gun-free zones". So where were the good guys with guns that everyone keeps saying will keep us all safe from the bad guys with guns?
Link? Can you link us with the specific Oregon law? Can you also link us to the specific school policy where the shooting took place. I already did up thread an firearms were not allowed on this college campus.
Show me this school's policy on firearms.
I guess you are just going to take the word of some idiot reporter that mentioned a law without looking into it?
Even IF guns were allowed on this campus it isn't mandatory. Apparently nobody had a gun on them at the school. (not even the security guard)
Colleges in Oregon have the option to allow firearms. This college decided against allowing them. I posted a link up thread to this college's safety page that specifically prohibits guns on campus. AKA just more anti-gun B.S.
Yep, posted that a bit back when I heard it on the Live Stream. What I found interesting was how the anchor was hesitating when he read it...like he didn't want to say it but it was already out.
Here is the federal law.
Two federal laws govern firearms in schools: the Guns Free School Zone Act (GFSZA) which prohibits the possession of a gun within a school, on school property or within 1,000 feet from the school grounds
Now, There are exceptions to the federal law.
There are some specific exceptions to the federal prohibitions on guns:
State law allows possession of the firearm;
The firearm is unloaded and locked in a container, firearms rack or motor vehicle;
The firearm is possessed for use in a program approved by the school;
The firearm is possessed by an individual pursuant to a contract between the school and the individual; or
The firearm is possessed by a law enforcement officer acting in his/her official capacity.
Number 1 says State laws which allow the possession of the firearm.
Here is the state law that allows them.
Oregon has enacted legislation relating to firearms in schools. ORS 166 establishes that under certain conditions (e.g., obtaining a concealed weapons permit) an individual is allowed to carry and conceal a firearm, including in public facilities such as schools.
In other words, if you have an Oregon CCW, there are schools in which you are allowed to carry your weapon onto campus and it is legal.
O.K., I'll back off, now show me who and how many had CCW on this campus and at this specific time?
No, until people are not coddled due to liberal policies concerning insanity.
Kid gets "bullied"...he's a poor baby. He gets bullied some more and plans a crazy get even scheme. Liberals have made it a crime to house the nuts no matter what stage of lunacy they are at. The "I'm OK, you're OK" POV has come home to roost.
What "common sense" gun laws would you propose that don't already exist?
142 school shootings since Newtown in 2012. How many times must you gun supporters be hit in the head with these reports? More guns DOES NOT EQUAL MORE SAFETY. Seriously, I feel like slamming my head against the wall.
The AR-15 style rife used by Lanza is relatively low powered. It doesn't make a lot of difference in the end results, but the lack of understanding about guns leads to the above post.
The .223 AR-15 worked our really well at Sandy Hook, didn't it … ???
Of course it obviously would have been far far worse had he been armed instead with a straightened paper clip or a baseball bat or harsh language, yes … ???
But … If it is true that the AR-15 is "low powered," then it wouldn't be all that great either for hunting or for home defense, would it … ??? So, why not BAN the d*mn thing … ???
