Is this the same Sherriff that supported the theory that Sandy Hook was a false flag operation by the Government?

a key law enforcement figure of the Roseburg shooting, Sheriff John Hanlin, had shared Sandy Hook conspiracy material on his own Facebook wall prior to the Umpqua Community College shooting.

Here is a worthwhile opinion on this very subject from two years ago. It's not a matter of concealing information, it's a matter of refraining from the oversensationalism that the media has indulged in for quite some time with regard to serial killers and mass murderers.

I agree. The notoriety has been a clear motivator for several of these shooters. Ignore them completely as if they never existed in the first place is the best bet as far as I'm concerned. Put all the attention on the victims and celebrate them.

Yes. What the insatiable press has been doing for quite a while now (at least since the 60s) is going deep into the lives of these killers, exploring everything they've ever read or written, immortalizing their insane thoughts. They are on television, magazines, newspapers, and not just the news media but even the entertainment media. You see their faces at the newstand, on television, and at the cash register. People will speak of them for years or decades, and commemorate their acts every year.

All that needs to stop. Yes, police and crime analysts need to do all that, and they need to produce their reports and analyses of what happened, how, and how it can be prevented.

But we don't need to see all that at the cash register.
