Has anyone seen this story yet? An Oklahoma SRO beat a student over a hall pass. The video is terrible and there is no audio so it's hard to gauge what went down. This SRO has been charged with a misdemeanor and is on leave.

Good morning.

Thanks for the link, unfortunately I can't open it.

Who charged the SRO?

25 year vet can't handle the bs anymore and goes off... Time to retire.. Face a misdemeanor battery charge.. Face a civil lawsuit...

I predict this will happen more and more as people continue outright disrespect for any authority whatsoever
Anarchists peeing in their pants with glee
When will the racist comments start?

Pull police from schools and let the fight games begin

I agree.

If the parents had done this to this girl, they would have been facing abuse charges and the girl would have been put in foster care.

I don't believe the SRO's are being utilized the way it was intended.

In this day of video's it also appears those who are abusing their authority, don't flinch for a second knowing they are being recorded.

I also think we need our police officers to show their 'human' side. I was watching the news last night, the 78th Precinct in Brooklyn transformed their basement into a haunted house for the community. Seems the kids had a blast, as did some adults. I like when the police mingle with the community.

Quote:

The actors are all police officers, who lead terrified neighborhood kids
through a maze in the precinct house.

“A lot of people in the neighborhood, you know, they come to a police
precinct for negative stuff,” said NYPD Capt. Frank DiGiacomo, the commanding
officer in the precinct.

For the haunted house, DiGiacomo gets into costume and a casket. He wanted to
change the perception of going to a police station, and make the precinct house
an open and friendly place at a time when police-community relations could use
strengthening.

“Bringing more people to interact with the officers is always a good thing,”
he said.

Officers spent months preparing to turn their police station into a haunted
house, but first they had to clear the basement.

“We had nothing but boxes. It was storage; paperwork for the precinct,” said
Officer Mark Caba. “And then we had a pipe burst and it destroyed all the
paperwork.”

With the basement cleared, they built the haunted house to the delight of
children everywhere.

“It’s scary,” one little girl said.

“It’s wonderful,” a neighborhood resident said. “About time – you know –
instead of us looking at somebody coming in with handcuffs, we can actually have
something for the kids.”

The haunted house at the 78th Precinct will be open on Friday for one more
night, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Maybe they should pull the SRO's from campus? Maybe force the parents and administration to do THEIR jobs or face the consequences instead of calling in a babysitter with a badge and a gun...

The question that has to be answered is what changed over the last 10-15 years that require police to be on campus?
Identify THAT and fix it.

The cops were put in these schools because how bad some of these schools are. Pull them out and watch the wheels fall off the wagon. Kidsx teenagers are going to ne disrespectful, used be at least when I was growing up there was a line and you didnt cross it. That line does not seem to exist any more.

Usually you cannot reach the parents.
And with all the laws we have enacted the teachers and administrators have their hands tied and cannot do anything. The SRO is the only one that can touch a student. All teachers and administrators can do are "use your words" and with these types of students those words fall on deaf ears.

These incidents that you are getting glimpses of are regular occurrences in some schools.

Get rid of the SRO's and who is left ?

School massacres, that's what changed.

If SRO's are there for that purpose, then they shouldn't be called into a classroom for a student who doesn't want to leave or put away a cell phone, that is for the school to handle.

So as far as SC is concerned, those citizens should get that part of their statute repealed.
