On Wednesday about 12:45 p.m., a student in Valez-Gonzalez’s class walked over to his desk to ask a question about an assignment when she saw that his iPhone was face up with websites showing adult male pornography, according to the report.
The student told deputies “she could not believe what she saw,” so she went back to his desk to record proof.
The student pretended to throw away a piece of trash and used her iPhone to record the images on Valez-Gonzalez’s iPhone, according to the report. The victim saw a slideshow of two adult males engaged in intercourse and a photo showing the body of a naked male.
Three other students also saw pornographic images of men on Valez-Gonzalez’s iPhone, so they reported it.
Sooo... Did he intentionally show it to them? Or was it just one of those things that happened to be on his personal device that the kids looked at?
I've had suggestive material on my phone before (in the browser) and mistakenly opened the browser when turning the phone on. I'd hate to be charged with a criminal offense if a kid came up behind me and happened to glance at my phone while it was on the screen.
If he purposely showed them, then yes, he should be charged.

A Polk County Sheriff's Office news release says the incident happened Wednesday afternoon in 47-year-old Vadi Velez-Gonzalez's intensive reading class at Mulberry High School. The school district placed him on leave Friday, and he was arrested Monday.
The news release says a student went to the teacher's desk to ask a question and saw a face-up iPhone with a website showing adult male pornography. Three other students saw it and reported it to school officials.
Velez-Gonzalez is charged with four counts of showing obscene material to a minor.
Records don't indicate whether he has hired a lawyer to contact for comment on the case.

Now the school has one less stupid teacher. At least this is a twist from coach, middle or high school teacher has sex with student(s) that seems all too frequent.
