More proof that leftists do not support the 2nd Amendment or self defense principles and are truly anti-gun, regardless of their rhetoric to the contrary. Despite mountains of evidence to support that concealed carry permit holders are among the safest (and most law-abiding) citizens, the VA Attorney General pulls this political stunt in the name of "safety," despite not being able to say how many lawful carriers from out of state commit crimes in VA.
I agree. This guy is a one-termer and will not become governor. He over-calculated on this one. Again, it would be one thing if the facts on the ground supported the need for such a move, but, like many moves by Democrats on this issue, facts don't matter.

But, VA, you get what you vote for.
VA is into controlling it's population. It also has some of the strictest mandatory vaccine policies and school regulation in the country. Their park regulations are only for the serious. They are a state into demanding obedience. Strange enough they were considered a very conservative state but last I heard most said it was slowly changing it's direction and leans liberal now. Some politicians are already banking on it. They also have strict guidelines for abortion clinics. They seem to have "father state" syndrome. lol The best of both liberal and conservative worlds.
I find it a sad day when our police are telling those of us who carry to help them fight terror at the same time our governments are stripping our rights to carry away in the name of keeping us safe.....it's a very confusing time.
Its not even law , AG abusing political power.
last year a bill passed the house failed in the state senate.
the bill would of allowed all out-of-state CCW permits to be honored in VA. The bill now has full support and the assembly is schedule January 18th 2016.
* the billed failed the senate based on the chief of the state police testimony , stating that "VA would lose money on Non-resident CCW permits if the bill is allowed to pass" .
The antigun officials cannot be successful unless the gun-owners cave into their demands. If a prison sentence
(or government harassment) scares you more than losing your right to own a gun, we've already lost the war. I'm ashamed to say that most gun owners talk tough, but when the chips are down, they quickly line up to register their weapons before the deadline runs out.

I disagree, even here in New York over 90% of so called "assault rifles" are still unregistered. The New York State Police estimates that the NYSAFE Act compliance rate is under 5%. Virtually every LE agency in the state aside from the NYPD has basically decided to look the other way and not enforce the NYSAFE Act.

Thank you for this! I'm ashamed to say that I didn't know it (but should)...and I'm from NY. What I saw (when the registration deadline came near) was news reel after news reel of thousands of gun owners from several districts lining up to register their "assault" guns. Our local NRA supporter, gun owning, conservative radio host (Bob Lonsberry), after waging verbal war against The Safe Act for weeks, told his viewers that he also decided to register his guns to avoid problems for his family. He told his fans "And anyone who doesn't like that can kiss my ass!".
I should have done more research rather than believe the news media. I know better!
We respect the second ammendment... but if you accidentally enter our state with a legally owned firearm on your hip we will happily jail you.
