Online “men’s rights activism” group Return of Kings has claimed that its boycott of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ cost Disney $4.2 million (£2.8 million) in ticket sales.
Quote:
The problem with ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, according to Return of Kings, is its “non-white and female agenda”, ie its lead characters - Rey and Finn, played by Daisy Ridley and John Boyega - are not white men.
They're pitiful. Sad little loser white males (and I say this as a white male myself) who can't handle the fact that society is becoming incrementally less (not more - just somewhat less) biased in favor of white males each year. Losers, because they can't even handle themselves in a world that is stacked in their favor (again, speaking as one, any white man who doesn't see this is clueless or in serious denial).
Read the first comment: "This isn't more diversity, this really is a genocide."
You might as well get I'M A PATHETIC LOSER tattooed right there on your forehead, pal! But then, he's par for the MRA course. Total loserville...
So your commenting about comments on the internet that offended you? Thank you for bringing these comments on the internet to my attention. I will reserve time for some outrage this afternoon.
I'm just still frustrated that when I was nine years old, and after getting my grandmother to wait in line with me for over six hours to get into Return of the Jedi. . . . . .
That George Lucas would expect kids even as young as I was at the time to actually believe that small creatures that resembled Lhapso Apso dogs (Ewoks) could have effectively fought Imperial Empire storm troopers in the Battle of Endor.
To this day, over three decades later, I'm still shaking my head. . . . . .like, WTF?
LOL! Yeah...poor Disney. Star Wars: The Force Awakens has grossed 740 million dollars in the US alone...in 15 days. And globally, it's grossed over 1.5 BILLION dollars. I bet that Disney is truly regretting having raised the ire of a fringe group that kept them from earning a whole 4 million dollars. Yep. I am sure Disney is truly regretting having a black man and a woman at the forefront of a film that, on a 200 million dollar budget, has grossed 1.5 BILLION dollars.
IN another thread here on citydata Hollywood is fearing a backlash because the Oscar nominated films this year are mostly white.
It is amazing that this star wars that will surely go on to be one of the highest grossing movies of all time has 2 black people as main characters. Another super high grossing film AVATAR featured blue people.
Did this odd group of white dudes boycott that one too??

Exactly. Of course, these idiots ignore the fact that Han Solo (a white male character played by Harrison Ford) wasn't exactly a bit player in this movie.
Let's see, they claim to have cost Disney $4.2 million. This movie, and the Star Wars franchise will make BILLIONS. In perspective, that's like costing me 4 cents. Disney won't even notice. Just another bunch of whackos looking for their 15 seconds of fame.
I'd be willing to bet that most all of them will eventually see the movie.
I do have to admit it was sad seeing
Spoiler
solo die.
