There's been some study done on the psychology of mass shootings, and why they've become more frequent. It turns out there's a sort of cachet (for some twisted minds) in carrying on a "tradition". Some of these kids study the history of the incidents, and become copy-cat perps, or want to come up with a more sensational approach, or whatever. So now that "macho" mentality, that warped glory-seeking has spread to girls, it seems.
No doubt it's also a sign of our narcissistic society and times, where everyone wants to be famous no matter how.
What better way to become (in)famous and have your name all over the media for years to come than to engage in a very public massacre.
If you read her notes, you can tell she is not well. This is not the result of narcissism, video game addiction or women trying to imitate men. This sounds like a mental condition that needs to be treated with very strong medication.
I don't see narcissism in her writings like you could see for example with Jodi Adias. She seems to be aware of her flaws and seems like a very angry person. My wild guess is that she was angry at her school too who knows why, maybe bullying.
I do not care what you think. They are legal and I would argue covered by the Constitution.
LOL. Video games were not even around when the Constitution was written. Yes, they are legal, but the Consititution does not say anything about them. They can be regulated (or even banned) by law.

The poster you were responding to has a valid point of view, whether you can see it or not.
I am all for freedom of speech, just as the Founding Fathers were. The ability to redress grievances against the government is one of the fundamental pillars of our free society. Freedom of assembly, speech, etc. are all vital in my view.
However most people accept that there are things beyond the pale, such as child porn for example. Sure there are a few wackos who think it and everything a vile sick mind can conjure up should be allowed. Thankfully, most people in our society believe there are limits, especially toward things that are not related to freedom of political or religious thought.
These violent games on the other hand do not only lack any redeeming social value, they hardly can be considered a freedom of speech issue. So while the FF's couldn't have envisioned such things as TV, movies, or portable home video games, I seriously doubt they would have thought "Grand Theft Auto" would be covered under the 1st Amendment.
Regardless, I find it ironic that some of the very people who want to take guns away from law abiding citizens, are equally as passionate about not taking away violent video games from you impressionable kids.
There are actually video games about going into schools and killing kids. What socially redeemable value could that possibly have?
More importantly, these violent images in games where you score more points for being more violent toward innocents (i.e. GTA) certainly are sending the wrong messages to young, impressionable minds in their formative years.
Whether parents realize it or not, by allowing their kids to play such games, they are giving subliminal tacit approval of what is in those games.
Women should'nt be allowed to consume movies or other media and should be kept at home and only let out in the company of a male relative.
And for that matter, we should channel the vilent impuses of our young men into killing in the name of God, as is proper.
Many of the Right wingers are continuously suggesting murdering any and all Muslims, so maybe that would be a good start for our videogame suckled youth.

I think this is a great/key point. And probably in more than a few cases where parents don't give their kid enough attention or are from broken bad home environments and they seek out attention in other warped ways.
I don't think it's from video games, playing with fake guns as kids, etc.
Women are just as capable of being violent as men are. Mental illness is an equal opportunity employer. Females are just as susceptible to mental illness as males are.
Shooting up schools isn't a women's rights issue, it is a mental health issue. All of the people who do the mass shooting thing have serious problems with the wiring in their brains.
.......Many of the Right wingers are continuously suggesting murdering any and all Muslims, .........
You sure run in a different crowd than I do. I've never heard, or heard of, anyone suggesting murdering any and all Muslims, no matter if they are left wing, right wing, libertarian, or fascist.
I wonder what your definition of "many" is, and where you are hearing all of these "many" people.
