This case in NC is from someone who contracted it while traveling abroad. The virus can be spread similar to HIV so we know the potential here of infection without being bitten by infected mosquitoes.
The problem is that there isn't a effective way of detecting the virus and those carrying it doesn't know until someone gives birth and sonagram detects the baby has underdeveloped brain.
There are 4000 known cases in Brazil already.
This disease has the potential for the 1st time in modern times to cause a negative birth rate for the affected countries.
There is no cure at this time. If you plan on having a baby, I would definitely have it soon and get tested for it because the disease can be pass down to the unborn directly if you gotten the disease before the embryo is fully developed.
Imagine if this disease spread like wildfire in 3rd world countries that have high populations?

It is “deeply concerning” the virus has now been detected in more than 20 countries and territories in the Americas since Brazil reported its first case in May, WHO director general Margaret Chan said. “The level of alarm is extremely high," she added.
if (when, rather) it becomes mosquito-borne in the US, that's when things will get interesting. especially if the already-widespread Asian tiger mosquito can serve as a vector, as scientists suspect.
First Ebola, now this... When the hype dies down, some other "new" disease will pop up.
Ebola transmission does not have the reach this disease has and doesn't have the carriers such as mosquitoes.
Zika has a greater reach because it can be carried by thousands of mosquitoes that can reproduce in the millions in one season and transmitted by people as well.

And before that, it was swine flu. Before that, mad cow disease. etc. There will always be some random 'disease' going around and there might even be a few cases here in the states, but an outbreak?? Won't happen.
