Okay, we need a voting mechanism to vote for the funniest thread......I just spewed water all over the place reading about the poor soul that got a green bean in their can of snakeheads.
I frequently find real small pebbles inside the one lb. bags of dried kidney beans. They might be small but bite down on one and it's dentist time. No doubt in my mind that they were put there by the packers.

Really have to scrutinize the contents before cooking.
My mom always told me bringing these items in from the field it is hard to get all the rocks out. The machine may pick a small rock up as a bean. This is why you pour the beans out on the counter and sift through them to get any foreign items out, rinse, cook and enjoy!
This story is disgusting.....but I guess snakes are in fields and this is what happens with mass production. I am surprised it doesn't happen more often.

I think that just happens because of how they're harvested.
But picking the rocks out of the pinto beans is a time-honored ritual at our house. I used to watch my mother do it and it always reminds me of her when I do it. For some reason, I'm always excited when I find a little rock.
You should see the critters that come off of my home-grown veggies. I'm always super careful when I'm preparing my produce because I know that the day my daughter sees a tiny caterpillar on the broccoli is the last day she'll want anything out of the back yard.
LOL! can't decide if this is the funniest post, the one about running out of ham, or the guy who found the bean in his can of snakeheads. Congratulations to all on a great thread.
I am sure this kind of stuff happens fairly frequently . . . and snake heads, bugs, worms, etc. get ingested without being noticed.
People in third world countries (and our ancestors) ate all of that stuff and lived just fine . . . . until 42 years old.

Their diets are good -- they die young because they just don't exercise. And, they don't have Obamacare.
