Police Horse Throws Officer in Times Square. A little bit of comic relief in police work, in the capital of the world, no less.

Being thrown from a horse is not comical. The officer is lucky he was not more severely injured and that the spooked horse didn't injure anyone either.

Edit: I just want to add that when I was a kid and saw someone thrown from a horse on tv or in a movie, I thought it was no big deal. Then I saw it happen in person. In fact I was just feet away, and ther was a shocking amount of force involved. I would compare it to seeing someone in a car accident or falling from a roof. Maybe not devastaing, but definitely an accident with potentially serious injuries.

I'm just glad that things have gotten to a point where it is not necessary to mention the breed of horse or race in the story.

Although, based on what happened, I consider the horse to be a thug.

Lol.

I walkd past that cop and horse on my way to a play that night. I like horses so I had looked at him as we passed. When I got home and saw the news later I recognized him as the one we'd passed. All that excitement while I was in the theatre! (Saw Fun Home, very good.)

Maybe it would've been even more funny had the horse kicked you right afterwards?

I'm with the others. It completely escapes me as to how this could be categorized as "comic relief."

Christopher Reeve comes to mind.

Here are a few others. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_horse_accidents

Perhaps because nobody got hurt. Sure, they could have... but they didn't. In hindsight, it's a little amusing, especially when you picture a horse running wild through a crowded Times Square. As if TS isn't hectic enough on the average night...

Anyone want to take a bet as to how long it will take for the Mayor to announce that the P.D. Mounted unit will be banned from Times Square?

He already tried banning horse drawn carriages, so it wouldn't surprise me.
