And then later, the brat picks the wrong animal to mess with, gets bitten or worse and the "humans-as-superior-species" camp starts mooing & lowing about the "evil" animal and demand it be put down.
I've noticed those posters seem to have nothing to say on this thread. It's just an animal to them. The only time they reply to these animal abuse threads is when some free range brat with zero parenting gets hurt.
I think you're not seeing as much commentary on this thread compared to the other recent animal threads because there's simply nothing controversial here. The turtle was harmless, the idiots in question clearly behaved with unnecessary and appalling cruelty, and the fact that some people are cruel is hardly a revelation. What is there to comment on?
I'd like to hope those responsible for harming the turtle face some real consequences, but given where the incident happened I have my doubts. I don't even know what sort of animal protection laws Lebanon has, if any.
It's very sad that humans as a species can't seem to evolve past this type of behavior. Perhaps it will happen some day, but I certainly won't live to see it. Unfortunately many more animals will suffer needlessly because of human character flaws, and ignorance.
As with many others here, I prefer animals over most people I meet.
If I had been there, I'd be sitting in a Lebanese prison with an attempted murder charge on my head, because I would have tried to gut that fat bastard with my beach umbrella.
