Obama Gets Votes Needed in Senate For Iran Deal

http://http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Iran-US-nuclear-politics/2015/09/02/id/673193/

Quote:
Democratic Sen. Barbara Mikulski said on Wednesday she will support the Iran nuclear deal, giving President Barack Obama the 34 Senate votes needed to sustain a veto of any congressional resolution disapproving the deal.
So here we are.
From the very beginning is was perfectly clear that Obama would accomplish it.
Good for him, looking at this fact from the history side - it is a big moment for the whole world community.

But pros and cons still not evident.
Dealing with Iran always was not easy thing ... here no proves that Iran will fulfill all its obligations.

Furthermore, when sanctions will be lifted once and Iranian oil will hit the market, it certainly will impact on the global economy in general. And still no one is able to tell with confidence how it will be for the US.

Obama will be seen by history as the Neville Chamberlain of our time.

Iran will still get billions of dollars in sanctions relief even if they don't comply with the terms.

CONS: Iran gets to self inspect. They get over 100 BILLION dollars made available to them.

PROS: We get our Americans jailed in Iran. What? No? We don't get them?

CONS: We get absolutely nothing in return.

I remember that shtick being trotted out twelve years ago - we had to invade Iraq because they had, and I quote, 'vast stockpiles' of WMD that they were going to use any day now to attack the United States. Besides, the war would be easy, Iraqi oil would pay for it all, and it would usher in a flowering of democracy in the Middle East.

Anyone who thought otherwise was smeared with the label Appeaser!, or worse.

Of course, they could not have been more wrong. There was no active Iraqi WMD program, the 'vast stockpiles' did not exist, the war dragged on for years, it was hideously expensive in both blood and treasure, and it made the Middle East more unstable. And as an ironic side-effect, Iran positively loved the U.S. invasion of Iraq because we deposed its neighboring Sunni enemy and replaced that enemy with a Shiite regime that is now Iran's tightest ally in the region.

Funny how the same crowd that thinks this deal is the worst thing since Munich was pretty much the same crowd who peddled that litany of rank nonsense about Iraq. Odd that anyone takes a bunch with such a track record of being spectacularly and utterly wrong so seriously.

And yet it is so, so predictable.

As long as Iranian born Valerie Jarrett is in Obama's ear, Iran will continue receiving favorable treatment.

Obama is doing this for America and the World. All the fear mongering on C-D back by the same in the Middle East called for Iran to do no less than capitulate. It wasn't going to happened. Obama along with the World Powers that signed the deal follow the thinking of Kennedy who refused to give in to the warmongers of his time.
Good grief we even had the ACME bomb speech at the United Nations in 2012.

I have, therefore, chosen this time and this place to discuss a topic on which ignorance too often abounds and the truth is too rarely perceived--yet it is the most important topic on earth: world peace.

What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children--not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women--not merely peace in our time but peace for all time.

I speak of peace because of the new face of war. Total war makes no sense ........
