A small but fast growing Ontario community looking for a safe drinking water supply has been outbid in its attempt to buy a well by multinational giant Nestlé, which acquired the site to ensure “future business growth.”
Nestlé, which can already take up to 3.6 million litres of water a day for bottling at its site in nearby Aberfoyle, Ont., bought the well from Middlebrook Water Company last month after having made a conditional offer in 2015.
Nestle has been doing this for a long time. Years ago, they started a plant in Texas and because of Texas laws they have been draining the countries largest aquifer that extends from Texas to South Dakota. There have been water shortages over the years while they make millions of a natural resource that is supposed to be supplying a large portion of the country.
They are also trying to start a plant in Arizona. There have been protests and an ongoing battle to stop them. Going into the desert to take out as much water as you can make money off certainly doesn't sound like they care about people at all. Its all about money, and they found a way to steal it right out from underneath us before we realize it.
