The parents of an autistic pupil are outraged he found and chewed two used condoms on the Trewyn School playground during PE class.
Further, the parents were not notified until two days later, when the school advised that the 9-year-old be tested for AIDS and other diseases potentially contracted from chewing the condoms.
“The thought of my son having used condoms in his mouth is despicable,” the father says. “ ... And waiting two days to tell me? That was unacceptable.”
It is. Some posters may flame me for this, but I'm not blaming the school district for the kid chewing the condoms. It only takes a split second for a child to get into something, and he was on the playground. The school definitely dropped the ball on notification, however. It sounds like there was too much delegation and the message was not passed on in a timely fashion because of it. I am very curious to know what educational avenues they will pursue for him now. The article said Trewyn was his only option, and I'm sure a private tutor would be ridiculously expensive for them.
From the title seemed like the boy contracted aids
Not possible.
The article is dated nine days after the incident. Antibodies that indicate someone is HIV-positive are not detectable that soon after HIV exposure. And AIDS? That takes a long time to develop (the median time for the HIV latency period before AIDS develops in untreated individuals is measured in years).

Actually, if they can now prove that the school cannot safely educate their son the school has to pay for a home tutor.
I've seen it happen btw...
