Horrifying, and as per usual sadly, the apparently intoxicated driver walks away unharmed while his victims suffer.

Navy man arrested in 'horrific' San Diego crash

Quote:
Authorities in San Diego were trying to determine Sunday why the driver of a pickup lost control of his truck on a highway bridge, swerved over a retaining wall and p-lunged 60 feet into a park, killing four people at a biker festival.

Police said Richard Anthony Sepolio, a Navy member stationed at Naval Base Coronado, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence causing death.

"It's horrible, it's horrific," California Highway Patrol Officer Jake Sanchez said late Saturday. "There were people down below. ... Innocent people that were just down there having a good time and now they are gone."

Sanchez said the four people who died were killed almost instantly. Sepolio, 25, and one person on the ground in Chicano Park survived with "major" injuries, Sanchez said. Seven other people also were injured.

Impaired-driving and distracted-driving (gadget watching) should result in harsh criminal-punishment if it results in injuries. If this guy is convicted, he should go-away for a LONG time.

Intoxicated folks seem to be the only ones who live through a terrible crash.

Ummm. Wouldn't an eye for an eye be dropping a car on him?

No slap on the wrist sentencing from a civilian judge either if they are able to charge him under military code.

Driver back home killed four people or so while dui and was out in under four years.

don't think the homicide trial is eligible for military jurisdiction as it was not on base

Thanks. I've heard of them doing it overseas but that is probably another set of rules.

Maybe that state has some tougher dui laws
