When I was 14, I got a bottle of Dave's Total Insanity. I was cooking some tacos and ddcided to put some in with the beans... Not a bad idea, except it bubbled and sone splattered in my eye. That would have hurt enough on its own, but yeah... Between that, fresh habaneros, and a bunch of smoked cayenne pepper, I couldnt open my eye for hours and it was blurry for days.
Much worse, about a year ago, I made a salsa with habaneros, smoked and fresh ghost peppers, and some chipotles for my restaurant. I was in a rush, didn't wear gloves, then afterwards didn't wash my hands, and went straight to te bathroom (thats why I was in a rush). Felt like my junk had been hit with white phosphorous for about 40 of the longest minutes of my life.
Oh MY! I guess you learned to wear gloves and warn the other workers about it! Protective glasses might be a good idea too for splatters if you're cooking something that boils and spits out drops.
