I think most of us hate dogs that don't behave, and actually we more dislike the OWNERS of such dogs. Endless barking, doo-dooing on someone else's lawn, harassing the mail carriers and satellite TV installers, the list goes on. That this dog stuck by the child doesn't change that, although that is a sweet story.

This.

I like well-behaved dogs and I like well-behaved children. I can't stand dogs or children who are allowed to run amok and cause a disturbance. It all comes back to the parent/owner.

This is small percentage of all dogs/owners. With that thinking you must detest all humans.

This isn't the point of the story and going off on this isn't appropriate. This story is showing the loyalty this dog had to this child.

I think it is, the one person asked "people who hate dogs, I don't get it," I was replying to that statement. If my reply was off-course, so was the original statement, we BOTH stand corrected.

I'm not a parent, but shouldn't you burn to death or pass out from the smoke trying to save your child? If I knew I let my child die, or even dog for me(still a member of the family), and I wasn't even injured, I wouldn't want to live anymore.

I agree with you but there are circumstances beyond our control. I'm not sure if the parents tried or not.

I sincerely hope the child and dog died from smoke inhalation before the fire got to them.

This story breaks my heart so completely. I wonder if the little boy woke up and knew what was happening or if the dog just stayed beside him while he was unconscious. I hope it was the latter.
