The pilot of a Canadian flight bound for Mexico over the weekend was arrested after police say he was so drunk prior to departure that he lost consciousness in the cockpit.
According to Calgary Police, Capt. Miroslav Gronych was scheduled to pilot a Sunwing Airlines Boeing 737 Saturday morning with 99 passengers aboard and six flight crewmembers under his charge.
Did you read the article? Did you miss the part about him being Slovakian and not a Canadian?
A Canadian national , on a Canadian work visa, flying for a Canadian airline . I wouldn't think it mattered if he was from Slovakia . He is operating under a Canadian work permit and a resident of Canada currently .

Wrong. If you're not going to read it allow me:
"cops say the gate crew and crew aboard the flight noticed the 37-year-old Slovakian national was exhibiting odd behavior."
This one is too obvious...
"Gronych, who lives in Canada on a work visa,"
Please show me where it states that he is Canadian.

So the Slovakian ambassador to Canada - who works and lives in Canada - is a Canadian?
Why in the world are we so hung up on his nationality? Canadian posters appear a bit salty and defensive. It's not our fault the world has never heard the following sentence: "I could really go for some good Canadian food right now, has that new Canadian restaurant opened yet?"
And yes I am aware of where Scarberia is, my dad is Canadian.
