Years ago I knew a used car dealer whose lot was fenced in with gate and big signs warning of dogs and no trespassing. Someone went over the fence when they were closed on Sunday and got bit.They sued and won.

Unfortunately you are right. If I was the hotel I would press charges. He endangered paying patrons with his stunt. And trespassed.
