Yeah, that's a problem.

This isn't a snowflake thing. And it doesn't matter if the Chinese used it 10,000 years ago. The Nazis ruined it, which means things like this can't happen.

So what do I tell my Hindu acquaintance who wears a gold swastika necklace, which is a religious symbol for him? That he is politically insensitive?

Seriously, what should one say to him? If so why, and if no, why not?

Why would a guy in China flag an order from an American company and tell them that they didn't want to buy those boots because the tread resembled a swastika. Not going to happen.

Also note there is a difference between the symbol Hitler used (right facing and tilted at a 45 degree angle) and the original religious symbol (generally upright and flat).

It is difficult, but the swastika was stolen by Hitler and it is difficult for most westerners to see it without the Nazi symbolism.

Jewish folks sometimes boycott "Vans" because there are Jewish Stars on the bottom of the sneaker.

Hence, "Stepping on the Jews", "Crushing Jews"....

Maybe my grain bin ?

Um you don't need to look long and hard at the boot imprint to see the offensive image. Well on second thought maybe you do but not so much for the rest of us.

Carefully examine the sole and then compare it to the image on the right. Someone doctored either the imprint or the image to complete a swastika symbol.

People drive me nuts. Some people see racism where it does not exist and then we have yahoos like the people on this thread that try to deny it exists at all.
