That's nothing. When in 1993 Yeltsin did his money reform, someone tossed 2 000 000 rubles into trash can. Large trash bag filled with money. That's not the point. Point is - every single bank note was punched. That renders them invalid. They even joked on the news, that it likely took several upset people so many hours to punch every note with hand punch.

There is no possible reason for anyone to invalidate the money. Since it was confiscated by the Feds, it would go into the treasury.
