Everyone jumps to the conclusion that she is after his money or something along those lines. I think that it is possible...but its also possible that he was an abusive, controlling man who preyed on a young woman who isn't mentally healthy. Its also possible he had been sexually abusing her from a young age so she doesn't know which way is up. Maybe she had major daddy issues and loved him.
I do want to point out she had filed for divorce and he shot her after begging her to stay...I mean, you aren't going to get a lot of child support or alimony from a 72 year old man who is an ex-con and out of a job. And she wouldn't get half of his stuff, she would get half of his stuff for 3 years...and they are broke cause he isn't working. So the sugar daddy thing doesn't hold a lot of water.
I mean...if I am going to use my imagination to fill in the blanks, there are lots of possibilities behind the age difference.
If you look at the article, it really doesn't look like he was loaded. And they have been married for 3 years and have a child. The wife was mad at him for losing his job. Yes, its an odd age difference. But also if you look at the guy's photo, if its recent, besides the white hair, he looks pretty fit.
So it doesn't really look like the arm candy-sugar daddy relationship...at least from the article. But maybe he has a lot of life insurance???
Luckily the woman will likely live, so that is good for their daughter.
Good post and comments.
Look at the pictures in the link and the interior has some nice trim work and the exterior
is a decent place in that area.
With that said, prior to his getting fired he was able to provide a reasonably nice place.
However, you're totally correct he may have just got a desperate young woman that was otherwise going to be homeless.
The relationship doesn't have to be arm-candy with millionaires....everything is relative.
Really? I'm 48 and married for (almost) 22 years. And if I find myself a widower at age 72, the last thing I'd want is to marry someone in her twenties. Remaining single? Maybe. Having a love interest or maybe a second wife around my age? Perhaps.

Don't know if it is about the money or not. I would have never thought abuse. I have known people that I grew up with that had been abused as kids and they all left the area as fast as they could to get away from the abuser. Not one of them stayed to get married to them. One girl that I was close to left a week before graduation. She had graduated but did not want to stay one more day in the same city, or state as her abuser. I had no idea until later in life. She hooked onto a guy in the Navy that lived four states away and she moved to the other state leaving her family and only coming back to visit some years later.
I have seen plenty of couples even knew some and it was about the security or maybe money. One girl married her teacher. She was in her mid twenties when they ran into each other long after she had graduated from high school. She became a teacher and they ended up getting married. He was 22 years older than her.
I guess I should have been more specific. Did she, at 25, expect him at 69, to be great between the sheets? Nothing to do with him shooting her in the face.
Married people and other family always know how to push your buttons. They installed them.
Domestic violence never, ever, ends well.
It sure sucks for the kid.
