A California woman caught a mechanic taking her beloved limited edition Indy 500 Pace Car Edition Camaro for a joy ride last week, and recorded her confrontation with the driver in a video that has since generated thousands of reactions on Facebook.
It happens......My buddy bought a brand new Ferrari 458 Spyder, supposedly the first one in the area. He is sitting at the end of a highway off ramp waiting to go and sees his brand new Ferrari speed by. He follows it to the dealership and asks why they were out "enjoying" his car. Dealer said if you don't want the car then they understand but if you want it then oh well.
350,000 car.......he still bought it even with the Ferris Bueller miles.

I wouldn't have.
That premium of a price should come with less trashy behavior.
If you have a performance car and don't want anyone driving the car, tell the CSR or who ever is doing the work the exact mileage on the car and you don't want to see any added. Even burn outs in the parking lot would change the odo.
Aaaaaand how many times have you heard someone complaining because they took a car in for service & picked it up with the same concern? She had an a/c problem & the tech had to drive the car to verify the repair was good.
Yeah, he did it when he picked up lunch - when I worked at a dealership the very best tech we had - had his own keys to the shop, came in at 4;30 am to start working & often locked the shop up at 11 or 12 at night. Drove a different car home that other dealers & techs couldnt fix at least once a week. You really *wanted* that guy to drive your car while it was under warranty- he could fix it.
Test drives are common in the repair/service industry. Many mechanics/techs work through their lunch hours or breaks, no reason to believe they can't combine a test drive with picking up lunch.
*FYI: if you check mileage from the Chevrolet Dealership to Tommy's Burgers, 1.2 miles. This loquacious woman is talking about 2.4 miles on her car.*
It is NOT a big deal, it happens all the time. The car needs to be driven to diagnose & test the repairs. Auto techs are human, they need to eat just like anyone else. Being a tech has become a more grueling & less profitable profession, the dealer is who makes the $$$$$.
If she is that concerned about her car (it's not even that fabulous of a car), she should learn to fix it herself, & good luck with that, I would enjoy watching her try to figure it all out.
This was not a test drive this was a joy ride. There is a reason the owner of the dealership condoned the behavior and there is a reason the driver looked so embarrassed and uncomfortable when caught. You don't take a limited edition car through a drive through unless you are the owner,
