Apart from the terror attacks , I think the only time I have got emotional is when I watched the local news and found out a girl in my town got stabbed , mainly because it was so close to home (she pulled through thankfully)
There have been a few stories on here that tear my heart out. The most recent and, imo, one of the saddest is the sweet little boy who lost his life trying to protect his little sister and mother from mom's psycho ex -boyfriend. That man is pure evil.
Yes.. various things... I happened to be watching the news live on 9/11 and every time they replay (and I think they should) I cry again. When I see a child on the news that's been horribly abused or killed.
I cried when Reagan got shot. Happened to be watching that live also.
And I almost cry every time the tell me the temp is gonna be in the 90s with a feel like in the 100s and humidy over 80%.
The only time it happened to me was September 11, 2001. I had moved to Texas from New York City 3 weeks earlier and my mom was still working at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx. It was a heartbreaking day for me. Years later I found out one of my best friend's aunts worked for Cantor Fitzgerald & had passed away that day. I definitely cried.
Came close a few times with stories of babies and children hurt or killed. I can't imagine how a person can be that evil. Its very scary. I hate those stories. There was one in particular years ago I wont repeat. Walked home fighting tears, stopped at a pub to ease the pain. Didn't help I wasn't in a good state of mind prior. Ugh.
I totally agree with you. One of the reasons I come here (and pick up tidbits in other places) for current events.. I can pick and choose which items I want to read. My husband is a news junkie but at least he keeps the volume down and uses the close captioning now so that I don't have to hear. I'm much better off without it.
When I go visit one of the kids for a wk or so.. I'm totally news free and I love it! I'm happier for it.
I still always find out if something important happens. People keep you informed.

The shooting wasn't televised live. All three networks and CNN ran tape of it within 30 minutes of the event however.
As for getting teary-eyed, I'm more likely to be affected by things like some folks winning the 20 grand in Fast Money on Family Feud.
