The vigilante justice was not allowed to happen. They are getting prison time. I agree some people cannot control themselves. One ended up dead. Do I feel bad for him? Not at all. Do I feel bad for the two be sentenced? Absolutely.
I can see that you are angry, but something tells me you are angrier at the two who are being sentenced than the pedophile who ruined a little girl's life. Sanctimonious? Probably.
I'm not angry at anything, don't try to start crap.
I don't feel bad for anyone in this scenario. They all got what they deserved. The man did not deserve to die this way BUT I'm certainly not mad he did.
The only thing I am is concerned that some people seem to think what this couple did was okay and that pedophiles deserve to die. That is dangerous thinking IMO.
My wife was a victim too. She didn't have her soul broken beyond repair but she is not what I would consider to be entirely happy with herself. It has affected her life more than I can imagine. She goes into deep depression and takes meds to deal with it.
She did report it but the person who did this to her threatened her within an inch of her life. She decided to move away and pick up the pieces.
I think the real problem is these people who commit such disgusting acts get away with little to no repercussions. Would I have loved to have done something about it? Absolutely. So when I hear a story about someone getting his due justice I honestly don't give a flying poop what happens to them. They reap what they sow. Incidentally, I had the chance to do something having met the guy at one point but chose not to because I didn't want to end up in jail. That is the ONLY reason.
I agree being a victim of sexual abuse or assault is life changing. And often difficult to recover from. I have "Complex Developmental Trauma" so its hard for me to know what struggle is caused by what traumatic event in my life. But I am not meaning to say sexual abuse/assault doesn't cause many people severe pain and struggles in their lives. Not at all. I just hate the general public's conclusion that it breaks someone. That stigma makes many people not want to talk about it.
And I do agree, perpetrators of these crimes should get in a LOAD more trouble then they get in. Honestly, some of the sentences that are handed down make me ill. And even more, the amount of people never turned in or get off is troubling.
But I think it comes down to how we thing of sex crimes. If we keep thinking they are "dirty", victims will continue to stay hidden. If we think pedophiles who have not committed crimes are trash and monsters, then they wont seek help. If we don't put more effort into rehabilitating offenders then we will have repeat offenders. If we don't encourage our mental health community to put more effort to researching treatment, then there wont be progress made (and I strongly believe there can...but no one can change if they believe they are a monster who cant change or control their urges).
It all comes down to how our society thinks of child sexual abuse.
This is why I feel that the justice system in America is utter BS in most cases.
I get hit in the parking lot by someone who is looking to make a quick buck, they get rewarded.
How is this guy getting away with it?
If he was in some other country like China, they would've shot him up and sent the bill for the bullet to his family.
I realize that to many Americans that just sounds like a nice Sunday afternoon picnic, but is it moral?
Good point. Now lets pass that along to the government, so maybe they'll get on the stick and keep the vigilantism from getting out of control because of their apathy and lack of action or example. Because it will if they don't.
However, I do think the murderers in this case - and that's exactly what they are: murderers - should be held accountable. The criminal justice system is far from perfect, but it's a whole hell of a lot better than just letting people kill whoever they think should be killed (because you might be the next person someone thinks should be killed).

Anyone who sexually abuses a prepubescent child or animal should die, period. There's no need for rehabilitation, they are not fit for life within the general population.
Also, pedophiles who haven't committed crimes may very well be looking at internet porn, which still harms young children if not directly, and they should be jailed. I say this as someone with a close relative whose only crime was downloading soft core internet porn of underaged girls, who has thankfully has been jailed before his addiction really did physically hurt someone.
I get rehab from drug addicts and others, but being a pedophile and acting on the pedophilia is so incredibly wrong and disgusting, that they should be shunned from society and/or removed. If anyone touched my children I would willingly go to jail to see them dead. I mean, a slave labor camp would probably be okay too.
What's sickening to me, is those standing up for pedo. He molested a 4 year old! Do you have any idea the physical and mental pain that she probably suffered? Disgusting, disgusting, disgusting.
Saying they DON’T deserve to die is not sticking up for them. Who else deserves to die in your arbitrary world? See, it sounds good until people start prodding. Then you run into issues.

The gist of most of your posts seem to support pedophiles lol
