Flying has become a less and less enjoyable experience over the past forty years I've had the opportunity to take to the skies for travel. It used to be at least tolerable. Now, I just pray that the worst thing that happens is a crying baby. My latest flight with what used to be a decent airline required Job-level patience this time around, from unexpected flight delays for mechanical issues to snippy flight attendants to obnoxious and gross passengers.

This scenario makes me think of the gunfight scene in "A Million Ways to Die in the West" where the guy has to reach for a second hat.

I remember from the dark ages of my childhood, you got dressed up to board a plane or train. I hated my black patent shoes! Church clothes attire was called for - women wore gloves, men wore jackets - maybe not a tie, but with a turtleneck. Last flight I took over the past Holidays, anything goes! After seeing the mess at Dulles, I think I will now travel in sweats (in the winter) - pretty much the only attire I feel comfortable sleeping on the floor.

If this man has flown 50 years ago and pulled this stunt, they would be treating other passengers for shock.

He needs a psych eval, which is where they took him. Could be schizophrenic, bipolar, or has good drugs aboard.

If only it were just Chicago! Orlando and Atlanta are awful, too. I despise both of those airports.

Yes, it can. But why on earth would he need to flush a shirt? Ask the flight attendant for a bag if it is soiled and put it in the trash.
