What a nightmare, for only $12,000 deposit and $4,000 a month. Poor lady.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea because they are going to steal my bike,” he told Fox 40. “I’ve got an electric scooter, I've got an electric wheelchair, I’ve got all kinds of stuff. So, I just don’t think it’s very good to have it open.”

I just can't believe how HOAs got started in the first place. Are people really that stupid that they'll allow some other group of people to tell them what they can and can't do with their own property? Because they're worried some hypothetical neighbor may bring their property value down by doing something outlandish? Geez, I mean I know some people are more on the lower-end of the intelligence bell-curve but you've got to be dumber than a box of rocks not to realize this will lead to control issues. One thing I will not allow is to let someone else tell me what to do with my property I paid upwards of 100k for (and many have paid lots more for that). Guess that's not an issue for too many people.

What if you live out of town in a second home, what are you supposed to do, hire someone to open and close your garage every day, while living out of season?

Does the HOA intend to pay the extra cost for air conditioning or heating - Most home garages are not well sealed.

When tere is storm force rain, is everything supposed to just get wet?

Are you supposed to leave your garage open when you go to work. Allowing someone to come along, close the door and then have all day in relative privacy to break into your house from the garage, stealing all your stuff and then sneaking away leaving the homeowner with nothing but a HOA bill for a closed door?

These folks would have to take me to court and then I'd sue them in turn for everything I can.

Besides... Isn't it the business of the local town to enforce resident qu\otas, not the HOA?

I wouldn't have the government "inspect" my property interior. I certainly wouldn't let some HOA do it.

HOA's s originally envisioned were supposed to be for the good of all residents who lived in the complex.....they'd take action when someone went far outside the rules like unsafe conditions, leaving junk out, kids/party types making noise and drinking in the wee hours of the morning, etc. What they wind up becoming, however, is an overbearing bunch of control freaks given a little power who then go crazy with that power.

Kind of like socialism--good in theory. Just doesn't work out in practice.

The HOA board is out of their mind. So when people go on vacation..or have jobs that require travel, or even don't work hours that allow them to meet the times what on Earth are the homeowners supposed to do? Yeah if I lived their I'd be getting a lawyer to send a C&D.

Unfortunately in some places, like Miami, the gov only allows HOA development and nothing else. So over time, the number of homes not in an HOA have become less and less as the percentage of overall homes available.
