I have to assume those who think calling paramedics was overkill don't have children, or have abandoned their offspring.

My primary motivation for exercise and healthy eating is so I can live long enough to laugh in those people's faces when they have their own kids.

I am very libertarian in my opinion on legal THC products, but I am very leery of the abuse potential of edibles. Like the poisons kept under the kitchen cabinets and in the laundry room, they can be very attractive to members of the household who should not have access to them. THC edibles are literally candy. Children may not be savvy enough to distinguish between a normal piece of candy and an edible THC candy.

Although there are no technically toxic effects from the THC these kids ingested, if they had a high dose and have no experience with inebriation (as children certainly should not), they could very possibly experience extreme anxiety from the normal effects. This alone warrants the presence of paramedics at the school.

Paramedics were warranted. If nothing else, they can give a sedative if the kid gets too upset. Plus, third party neutral paper trail for CPS.

That said, I don't see much newsworthy about this story. Kids get poisoned by things that are actually poisonous on a daily basis.

I don't think the paramedics were overkill. It could have been laced with something. Better safe than sorry when it comes to kids
