LOL seriously?

And how does not complying resolve the matter?

I guess you don't watch TV. Criminal Minds, Law and Order, CSI.

You can be asked to step out of a car all the time for many reasons and it turns out to be for a thing that DOES get resolved when it's only part of an investigation you had nothing to do with.

When the DC snipers were killing people, my husband's 12 year old son was sitting in a Home Depot parking lot with headphones on listening to his CD player when his father ran in for something.

The police cars circled his vehicle, guns drawn and ordered him out. Lots of screaming etc.

But I bet if YOUR family had been a victim and the guy in the HD car lot WAS the sniper, you'd feel differently. Instead of some unexplained hostility towards law enforcement.

That's clever. Conflating protesting laws with breaking laws.

I REALLY REALLY object to the Income Tax laws. Guess I'll just stop paying and filing.

No, it doesn't work that way. Noncompliance becomes an additional issue but the penalty isn't death. In this case, it was just a taser. In others, people have ended up dead.

Do you believe the police missed an opportunity to exact justice in the Oregon standoff a few years ago?

How did that guy think he would win that battle?

In all my years I've never been approached by a cop and ordered out of my vehicle. Neither has anyone I know. Trouble follows the troublemakers.

I felt sad for the dog.

That's kinda a poor example since your two examples passed from our laws many years ago.
Oh, and communists who protest get sent to the Gulag, about 20 million never came back.
The way to protest marijuana laws is to have a parade and chant, not blow smoke in a LEO's face.
The American way to deal with laws you don't like is to elect representatives who will reject those laws.

The fact that he's a vet is a moot point here.

You do as you are asked by a police officer. Why fight them? What's the point? Do you think they'll just agree and walk away? Do you think you can outrun them? Not complying will always end worse than it could have been.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Civil disobedience is all well and fine, but if you want to practice civil disobedience you have to be ready to accept the consequences. If what you are disobeying is police orders it is possible that the consequences might turn out to be painful.

You have to decide how important it is to make your political point. Courts all over the country have ruled time and again that the police can order you out of your car. If you felt the need to protest that court ruling, feel free to do so, but be prepared to accept your lumps as part of the deal. You might very well be continuing your protest from a jail cell with lumps on your head and a couple of black eyes. Because that is the usual consequence of resisting arrest.

And you would not get much political traction for your black eyes because the courts have consistently ruled against your position that the police can't legally question you.

Really, really stupid move for him to bend and reach for something out of sight. Guess it didn't occur to him they might have thought he was going for a weapon?

Better to end up in the back of a Police car, then in a body bag.

We need to treat our veterans better and give them the help they deserve. Self-medicating isn’t the answer.
