They have only $90 to their name? Exactly what did they expect to do in the boat with only $90?
Back in the day, the adventure bloggers had a PayPal tip jar on their blog. And of course as someone already mentioned, there's GoFundMe. These days there's Patreon. (I just signed up to support a free speech site.)

It probably looks like unlimited free money to some people.

Good they are young, they will maybe try again.
A boneheaded move by a couple of poorly prepared and overly optimistic Millennials does not equal a lack of imagination or daring on anyone's part.

That's like Bernie Sanders saying that children are starving because there are dozens of antiperspirants on the market.

So they think working for their money is beneath them but begging for it isn’t?

I’ve contributed to Go Fund Me accounts for people really in need but never for people like these who just want to use it to mooch off others as the result of their own foolish behavior. Like it or not, they should work and save for their next adventure.

I mean how much could it have cost to get some sailing lessons?
It costs time on the water. Bluewater sailing is something you work up to.

Still, good on them for chasing the dream. Here's hoping the next attempt will be better planned.

"Hello, Mr. Maritime insurer. We'd like to inquire about a policy for a 45-year old boat that we spent $5K to restore, and intend to sail off-shore... No, we don't have a recent survey... Crew qualifications? We thought we'd kinda learn as we went along... As for premiums, we had imagined something in the $90 range. Hello? Hello??"

"Neither Broadwell nor Walsh had any boating experience, but that didn't stop them from buying the 49-year-old vessel from Alabama, last April."
Damn they sound worse then Jennifer Appel and Tasha Fuiava.

Like having other people pay for your “another way.” They are so arrogant, thinking that they are the enlightened ones who are going to enlighten others.

Yeah whatever.

The dog has a dream too, and it probably involves getting the hell away from these people.
