The Bowling Green Daily News says Smiley was found after they located wet clothes in a trash car and wet footprints leading toward a helicopter. That's where they found Smiley, who was naked, inside.
Jail records show Smiley is charged with receiving stolen property, escape, wanton endangerment, DUI, criminal mischief, tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest, burglary.
He took his clothes off because they were wet from driving into the water and he took cover inside a helicopter. He didn't want to go out naked, so they dragged him out naked anyway and added resisting arrest charge to it.
I've been trying to figure out what is going through some of these criminals heads lately. He isn't the dumbest criminal. He had a workable plan if he hadn't been caught before the footprints dried. The evidence would have disappeared in a day or two as the trash was thrown out. Getting home would have been a bit rough without clothes, but maybe he had a bff who would have come and gotten him and given him some clothes. The temps appear to have been in the 60's or so. It may have been a bit chilly. Maybe he needed to stay in the helicopter for a while to hide his pride.
Sweet Jesus, is this the brother of the Chicago dude who was on acid?
